Other Technical Information About the Calendar System
Using a Palm with a Cell Phone
In case you'd like to try mail or calendar from your Palm, using a cell modem, here are instructions on Connecting to the Internet with a Palm and a cell phone.
The small screen interface
Some people have PDA's or cell phones with a browser builtin. If you have that, you might want to use the calendar. Unfortunately the normal calendar web interface is designed to work with a big screen. It also requires Javascript, which small browsers typically don't have.
For these reasons, we supply the Sun ONE Calendar Server small-screen interface. (SSL version). It has a very simple, small screen, and it doesn't use Javascript.
It can be invoked as
http://rulink.rutgers.edu/cal/login.php3?uname=xxx&pwd=yyyor preferably
https://rulink.rutgers.edu/cal/login.php3?uname=xxx&pwd=yyyThe ? and following arguments are optional, and should only be supplied if you consider your handheld or cell phone as fairly secure. I recommend using Qualcomm's EudoraWeb, as it will handle the SSL correctly.
